In this episode, Rob and Dana talk to Kimberly Raff. Kimberly is the founder of Foster Alumni Mentors, an organization that provides assistance to young adults who have aged out of the foster care system. Having aged out of foster care herself, Kimberly understands the need for “wrap around services” for young adults who lack the support they need to transition into adulthood. Not only does her organization help young people with housing assistance and filling out college paperwork, they also provide emotional support and encouragement for the youth they serve.

Kimberly Raff is the founder of Foster Alumni Mentors, a nonprofit that builds community around individuals who have experienced foster care. Kimberly aged out of foster care at the age of 17 without supports and no idea where she was heading in life. She experienced homelessness and hopelessness. Finally, after 12 years, she became the first in her family to graduate college with her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Wanting to make a difference, she worked in child welfare for almost 5 years when she realized kids were still facing the same issues she had 20 years before when she aged out. Recognizing she needed to do something, she left her job and started chasing her vision of supporting youth aging out of foster care and giving them hope, inspiring them and letting them know they are not forgotten.
