RIZE Credit Union (SCE Credit Union) in Partnership with Barely Canadian

In May 2024, during National Foster Care Awareness Month, SCE Credit Union (now RIZE Credit Union) launched a transformative partnership with premium apparel company Barely Canadian and Comfort Cases. The initiative pledged to donate a fully-filled Comfort Case backpack and a Barely Canadian hoodie to youth in foster care for every new account opened during May.

The Challenge

The partnership faced two key objectives:

  • Develop an effective promotional strategy to raise awareness about the initiative
  • Create an efficient distribution system to deliver and promote the donations across Southern California and Nevada markets

The Impact in Numbers

The May promotion achieved remarkable success:

  • 1,000 total Comfort Cases backpacks and Barely Canadian hoodies donated
  • Two Packing Party events in August 2024:
    • Los Angeles: 600 Comfort Cases and hoodies
    • Las Vegas: 400 Comfort Cases and hoodies

Each Packing Party featured RIZE Credit Union employees working together to pack cases following an inspiring presentation by Comfort Cases founder, Rob Scheer.
