What is a Packing Party?
A packing party is a community event where volunteers come together to create Comfort Cases. We believe Packing Parties are a wonderful way to foster a sense of community, encourage volunteerism in our youth, and establish feelings of pride and accomplishment in all ages. Packing Parties can be held anywhere and can be any size – all ages are able to participate in Packing Parties!
Packing Parties can be scheduled at the Comfort Cases National Center in Rockville or held off-site in a location of your choice (home, school, religious organization, office.) If you would like to host an off-site Packing Party, we would love to pair you with one of our Coordinators so we can help you plan and answer any questions you may have along the way. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to be connected with a Coordinator!
By engaging with your community, whether as an individual/community-based group or as a corporate group, you not only share the mission of Comfort Cases, you also make an impact on the lives of the children in foster care who are local to you!
Before You Get Started
Please make sure you watch the short instructional video of Rob Scheer as he walks you through how to make a
Kit into a special Comfort Case!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us prior to your event at email@example.com.
Enjoy your event and please make sure you tag us on social @ComfortCases when you post your event photos.
What’s in a Comfort Case?
Comfort Cases are backpacks filled with comfort and personal care items for youth entering the foster care system. Typically, children are given a trash bag to pack up their belongings when they are removed from their homes. We are working to end this practice while providing the essentials for a child’s first few days in foster care.
