Comfort Cases Roadshow Comes to Savannah
The first in a series of packing parties led by Comfort Cases founder Rob Scheer was held last Wednesday, November 1, 2023. The Comfort Cases provide all children in Georgia’s foster care system with a “Comfort Case” backpack, filled with essential personal care items, and a “Comfort XL,” 32-inch duffel bag. These packing parties will involved local group homes and child placement agencies, who help to pack the Comfort Cases alongside volunteers and then distribute them to the children in their care. The below agencies were in attendance and helped with the event as well:
• Bananas Foster, the non-profit affiliate of the Savannah Bananas
• Coastal Harbor
• Greenbriar Children’s Center
• Georgia Mentor
• Trinity J&D
Georgia is the first state to partner with Comfort Cases statewide to help start this initiative that will have a transformative impact, replacing the use of trash bags to transport foster children’s belongings.
Every child deserves to pack their belongings in a special bag that they can call their very own. To commemorate National Adoption Month in November, Comfort Cases and Amerigroup are hosting packing parties with community members across the state, reinforcing the spirit of collective responsibility in supporting foster youth.
